Third and final match in this years Spring League, it was also our Committee Shield Trophy, so lots to fish for.
After several days of dry warm weather, we ended up with a cool breezy day starting at about 10 °C finishing at about 13 °C, and a persistant fine shower which plagued us for part of the day.
We had a great turn out of 26 anglers. Pegs were close together which made it difficult for some.
The match fished from 9.30am to 2.30pm and some pegs struggled to get bites. It didn't help as a lot of the fish were spawning.
Golden Peg today was Kev Smith. He was cursed along with eight others who have a 'DNW' against their name.
At the end there was a clear winner and it was John Bryan who caught most of his fish in the last hour, believe it or not on peg number 13.
He managed 26lb 14oz, and has earned his match win, Committee Shield win, and if that wasn't enough he also wins the Spring League...Well done John!
Well done to our 2nd and 3rd place men today, Alan Lamb and Ian Armstrong.
Congratulations also to Paul Rowlands who in getting 4th place also managed to get biggest fish so far this 2007/8 season with a 11lb 10oz Carp, will it stay the biggest....Who knows.
Thanks to everyone who fished the Spring League, we look forward to seeing you all again for our Summer Series which starts on 21st June at Blake Hall.
